About "Sister Cities."

Sister City relationships mean economic, educational, and cultural partnerships between people who are citizens of cities in different countries.

Students hailing from any of Toledo's Sister Cities can attend the University of Toledo at the in-state tuition rate. Now (2012), the Dean of the College of Engineering of the University of Toledo is offering free admission to the Engineering College to youth from Pakistan for at least one year.

Each Sister City relationship has a corresponding sub-committee of TSCI.

Other possibilities for the relationship with Hyderabad:

Toledoans and Pakistanis can become partners in real estate ventures in both countries.

Jobs can actually be outsourced from a Pakistani city to an American Sister City, as the existing Sister City relationship between Karachi, Pakistan, and Houston, Texas proves.

Replicating Toledo’s solar industry, and/or buying energy from Toledo, may be the solution to Pakistan’s power crisis, since Pakistan is exposed to the sun much of the time. (The Mayor of Hyderabad met with solar and wind energy company officials while in Toledo.)

Doctors from Pakistan can be trained at Toledo's hospitals, and patients can be brought here for treatment.

Toledo and Hydeabad can collaborate in glass production, since both cities have major glass industries.
